Mr. George Skonce and Mr. Dean M. Sorell actions on February 18, 1963 that founded this organization were just the first step in a long evolutionary process. Much like bringing up our children, birthing is only the first step in a long and involved process. After which much care and nurturing must take place before we have a mature adult making contributions to society. The development process for an organization is quite similar. Founding of TREA was the first step, since then many people have stepped forward to provide the care and nurturing. It is because of those people's dedication, TREA is the mature organization that we know today, benefiting it's thousands of members.
Mr. Skonce and Mr. Sorell vision back in 1963 was an organization that would speak the collective voice of all retired enlisted no matter in which branch they served their country. Today, TREA is larger than that vision because of the actions of men and woman talked about in this document.
This history will give the reader insight as to significant events and decisions that has molded TREA. The history of TREA is ever growing, so what better time to close out this chapter, then the end of the millennium.
We the recorders of TREA's history, hope that you the members of TREA never stop creating history.
We would like to extend our thanks to TREA National and Chapter 1 for their cooperation in the compiling of this history. Without the access to the minutes and other significant records this document could not have been possible.
